Job Description
UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO, CHRISTCHURCH
and
CANTERBURY DISTRICT HEALTH BOARD
An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Gynaecological Oncologist to take up a full-time joint Academic and Clinical position within the University of Otago, Christchurch and Christchurch Women’s Hospital (CWH) to be appointed on a Confirmation Path basis.
Academic duties will be based in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Christchurch School of Medicine and the appointment will be to the position of Clinical Senior Lecturer or higher if appropriate. Prior experience in teaching and research are required. You will have the opportunity to focus on expanding our active clinical and laboratory based research program, with many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. The appointment will also include responsibilities for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Christchurch Women’s Hospital is the tertiary gynaecological oncology centre for the South Island of New Zealand (population approximately 1.1 million) and provides a comprehensive range of services.
You will need to have completed subspecialty training in Gynaecological oncology (FRANZCOG or equivalent and CGO or equivalent) and must be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. A higher research degree or further certification in Medical Education although not essential would be desirable for this position. Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand is also required.
Relocation expenses are available in line with University of Otago and CDHB relocation policies.
Outside of work, there are many exciting opportunities in Christchurch as the city rebuilds following the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Boarded by beautiful beaches, Banks Peninsula and with the mountains of the Southern Alps less than 100 kilometres away, Christchurch residents enjoy water and snow sports on their doorstep.
If you are looking for an exciting new opportunity and would like to know more about working with us, then please contact Anna Hunter for a confidential discussion on 64 3 337 7954.
Applications quoting reference number 1700888 will close on Wednesday, 12 July 2017.
